Default Top Gun Garden State Pump- An Introduction and a History

Greetings and Salutations BEO!

I just wanted to introduce ourselves to those folks who may not know us, may not know us well enough, or just try to block us out or recent memory.

Top Gun Garden State Pump is a pump paintball team drawing members from all over NJ (and the California Contingent: Ralph, Christian, Dave, and John). We are predominently a NPPL speedball team, but will play wherever we can find a game. Top Gun Paintball in Cream Ridge, NJ is our home away from home and where you'll usually find us.

We are generously sponsored by:
Top Gun Paintball Games
Empire Paintball
Big Evil Online
Flory PB
Fred's Wieners
Papa K's X-Lusive Headbands and Designated Driver Service

GSP started as a group of players who were regulars at the monthly Freedom's Pump and Pistol League games. These were mainly mini-tournaments of randomly formed three-man teams who played for bragging rights and gift cards.

After the June 2009 FP&PL, this group decided to compete in the 2009 NPPL DC Challenge in the pump division. By the time of the event, two FP&PL teams (Scrubs and All-Stars) headed to Aldie VA to play. In their premier event, the Scrubs finished in third place and All-Stars finished fifth.

Over the winter of 2009-2010, members of the team competed in Headrush's Turkey Bowl and played along side the BEO Mafia on the victorious Human team in the Matrix scenario game at Top Gun. In January 2010, the first and second place teams in the Top Gun Winter 3-Man Pump Tournament were from the FP&PL teams.

Begining in April 2010, the FP&PL teams played in the NPPL Surf City Open in Huntington Beach, CA against 19 other pump teams. There, the All-Stars were joined by California Contingent. In the end, the Scrubs made it to Sunday, and finished the tournament in eighth place. While in HB, the team discovered burgers with no bacon, bikini bars and tacos served out of the back of a jeep cherokee.

May 2010 found a now unified Top Gun Scrubs team travelling to Joliet, Ill for the NPPL Chicago Open. Despite the ref's best efforts to screw us out of wins during prelims, the team placed second in the pump division. There we grew as a team by Drew showing us the true value of the dollar, the ancient family recipie for Viking Tears and learning not to wake up Papa K when he's trying to sleep.

While the Living Legend was enjoying a craptastic open bar at a family wedding, the team came full circle playing in the NPPL DC Challenge again in August 2010. Bettering its finish from the previous year, the team finished second in this event. This event saw birth to the mullet, a baby-mama chokeout in front of the hotel, and that free paint costs $30 a case.

For the last event of the year, Top Gun Scrubs found itself in Las Vegas at the NPPL World Paintball Championships. After a Sunday that was FAR too long, the team finshed in third place. However, based points accumlated this season, the Top Gun FP&PL Scrubs was crowned the 2010 NPPL Series Champs in the Pump Division (The first east coast team to do so, and the first team to win the divison beside the LA Hitmen). Even with this notable achievement, we were still snubbed by Sara Jean Underwood and didn't make the G4 segment. There is nothing like rolling the Vegas strip in a Uhaul van blasting house music. Nothing shuts down a propostion from a limo driver like a random Dios monologue involving some random portly chick that just happens to be standing there.

With the season at an end, the Top Gun FP&PL Scrubs became Garden State Pump. Same faces, same stories, same tasteless humor, different name. The above rambling narrative was just scratched the surface of the shenanigans, on and off the field. I'd like to invite anyone else to include stories of this season in this thread.
