Default A Threadless Sterling

The sterling that I bought didn't have a threaded barrel at all it was epoxied into the body. Weird, but neat in one way, as I have some tighter bore brass tube on hand.

No threads at all, just epoxy was used to hold in the slip fit barrel. I am going to add a either a set screw or pin to hold the barrel in.

How does the body look? Does it look like its been machined down or just totally absent? Also what serial number is on the gun?

Hmmm, i am no expert but its either a one off that someone made just because or a extrememly early prototype, before any type of threads were considered. You would have 2 options after determing if that body is worth something more(doubtful but i don't know) in its current condition, 1) leave it alone because its a unique but totally useless barrel system 2) rethread it to a common barrel thread because it is totally open for it. I would go with a short shank like Tippmann Carbine/A5 threads, rather than cocker, because i don't know.how much meat is there for the shank.

The body might still require the long shank of a standard sterling barrel. although I imagine that it could be "mini'd" and then tapped.

Either way, that's kind of neat. You could post up in the Sterling forum on MCB. Maybe if Mike is still around, he could get you an answer, Tim.

Being threadless doesn't make it useless, just sdiffernt. I have plenty of Sheridans with fixed barrels that work fine too. I can always add wedgits to the barrel before I stick it back into the body to take care of any rollouts. As is it shoots fine and I have shot it in my backyard while trying to take out some tree rats. I guess I should do some more investigating before I modify it too much. Who knows, it might actually be worth something, but since I didn't pay much for it I will still use it.

From what I have found out so far it is a Lada Sterling, which is prior to the Arrow Precision ones.

Lada came up with the design & Sterling bought them up or out or became them. I have to admit that the gun has a super cool vibe to it.
