i think, for some reason, holding the camera still is one of those things that takes a lot of practice. it takes forever to get right. at least when you're taking pics of yourself. =/

I take a lot of long-exposure photos so I've gotten pretty good at that, actually. If you tuck your elbows into your stomach and exhale completely and hold that breath out while you take the picture, it's a lot easier to keep the camera steady. Probably looks a little goofy if you're photographing yourself in a mirror, though - I never take pictures of myself, so I wouldn't know...
